From Professor Bartram S. Brown

Looking to hire research assistants

Professor Bartram S. Brown is looking to hire research assistants to work on projects involving international criminal law and international human rights law. Students may work for pay or, in an appropriate case, for an independent study credit. Experience in research and writing about international law would be useful but is not required. You should, however, in general be a good researcher and writer, and a motivated self-starter willing to take on important responsibilities. Those interested should submit a résumé, a brief writing sample and a letter of introduction to Professor Brown’s administrative assistant, Nicole Lechuga, in room 823.

From Professor Nancy S. Marder

October 10: Conference on "Juries and Lay Participation: American Perspectives and Global Trends"

On Friday, October 10, the Justice John Paul Stevens Jury Center and the Chicago-Kent Law Review will co-host a conference on "Juries and Lay Participation: American Perspectives and Global Trends" in the Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Courtroom from 8:45 a.m. to 4:25 p.m.

The conference will feature panels on juror bias, the jury as a poltiical institution, and jury practices in other countries. The final panel will include practitioners (lawyers, judges, a jury consultant and a former juror) who will discuss the role of the jury from their perspectives.

Admission and lunch are free with advance registration. Lunch includes a keynote address from Judge James F. Holderman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, who participated in the American Jury Project.

Seats are limited so please register as soon as possible at cklawreview.me@kentlaw.iit.edu.
