Sandra P. Zemm Labor Law Prize

Sandra Zemm was a partner in the Labor and Employment Department at Seyfarth Shaw's Chicago office; she passed away in September 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Seyfarth Shaw and Ms. Zemm's family, friends and colleagues have raised money to fund an annual prize in her honor.

The Sandra P. Zemm Prize in Labor and Employment Law will be awarded annually to a third- or fourth-year student in the Labor and Employment Law Certificate Program at Chicago-Kent who has demonstrated the qualities that made Sandy so special:

A commitment to pursue a career in labor and employment law, a pioneer spirit and willingness to take the initiative, and a gracious and generous attitude toward helping those in need.

The prize this year is $1,000. If you know someone in the certificate program who you think embodies the characteristics for which Ms. Zemm is remembered, please consider nominating that person for the Zemm Prize.

To nominate a student, please send an e-mail naming the student, with a paragraph or so describing the reasons you think the student deserves the Zemm Prize. Please feel free to nominate yourself also.

Deadline for nominations by students: Friday, March 25, 2011
Send nominations to Ms. Alice Curry: acurry@kentlaw.edu

We hope to announce the recipient of the Prize by Friday, April 15.
