Apply for UIC's Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy

The Summer Institute is an intense workshop and lecture series geared toward individuals who are interested in the title subjects: sustainability and energy. From August 7 to 15, a diverse body of participants will be immersed in a broad spectrum of topics of interest to economists, political scientists, urban planners, architects, scientists and future entrepreneurs. Participants will further delve into these issues by visiting sustainable sites in the Chicago area and by working to solve challenging scenarios in sustainability and energy.

Graduates of the Summer Institute will acquire a "big picture" appreciation and comprehension of the issues on the local, national and international levels. This program aims to provide a firm foundation for future academic, professional, government and entrepreneurial careers in sustainability and energy.

Applications for the Summer Institute are now being accepted. Admission to the program will be highly competitive with an enrollment cap of only 50. Participants will be primarily graduate students, but senior-level undergraduates and postdoctoral fellows will also be accepted. Participants should have an expressed interest in sustainability and energy as evidenced by either educational or practical experience.
