November 18: Join us for the symposium "Using Your Art of Influence to Break Criminal Traditions and Create Social Change"
Why is there an art exhibit on the third floor of Chicago-Kent?
How does the exhibit relate to legal education?
Do you have questions, ideas or concerns about the exhibit?
Attend the symposium “Using Your Art of Influence to Break Criminal Traditions and Create Social Change” on November 18, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the first-floor auditorium, with a reception to follow.
Held in conjunction with the fine art exhibit currently on the third floor, this symposium explores the history and purpose of the art exhibition, the meaning of the art as it relates to human rights, the artists' creative process, everyday life under criminal traditions, and a dialogue with students and faculty about culture as a strategic tool for change. Speakers include exhibit executive producer Cheryl Jefferson; exhibit artists Richard Laurent and Paula Luberda; activist/artist Zainab Khan, who is featured in the new documentary "Honor Diaries"; and you, the Chicago-Kent community.
You are cordially invited to attend and join this conversation. In fact, you are what the symposium and the art exhibit are all about. Raising consciousness among future legal influencers is the first step toward creating change and achieving social justice.
