STUDENT BAR ASSOCIATION
Message from the president:
On behalf of the Student Bar Association, I would like to welcome you back. I hope that you had a productive as well as relaxing summer vacation. We have many goals for SBA this year and we hope that you will stay informed by reading this SBA portion of the Record each week to stay abreast of the events we are planning and the issues that will come before the 1998-1999 SBA Board of Governors. This is a reminder that the first voting item of the year for the Board of Governors is the proposed amendment to the SBA Constitution originating from the Student Organizations Committee. Per our SBA Constitution, we have posted the proposed amendments for your review on the SBA Bulletin Board (located on the Concourse level). If you have any questions, comments, or objections to the proposed amendments, please e-mail me ASAP at EPHAM.
In addition, SBA Elections for the following open Board of Governor positions will begin with campaigning on September 10:
4L-Evening (1 position)
3L-Day (1 position)
2L-Evening (2 positions)
Please join us at the SBA General Election informational meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 1, 1998, at 4:00pm (room to be announced). I will be discussing campaigning rules and procedures so please attend if you wish to run. Please e-mail me in advance if you plan to attend at EPHAM.
A special welcome goes out to the incoming 1Ls! I hope that you've enjoyed Orientation Week and that you are becoming more familiar with Chicago-Kent's facilities. We've all been in your shoes and we know how overwhelming first year can be, so try not to worry too much! It was great meeting so many of you last Tuesday at the Student Organizations Fair. I spoke with a number of you about the many opportunities within and beyond the SBA. As you may or may not know, the SBA 1L Election is drawing near. The following positions are open for the incoming 1L class:
1L-Day, Section 1 (2 positions)
1L-Day, Section 2 (2 positions)
1L-Day, Section 3 (2 positions)
1L-Evening (2 positions)
I hope that you will join us at the SBA General Elections informational meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 1, 1998, at 4:00pm (room to be announced). If you are interested in attending or wish to attend but cannot due to time constraints, please e-mail me at EPHAM.
Hopefully, you will take advantage of the many worthwhile and active organizations at Chicago-Kent this year and in the years to follow. Please take the opportunity to e-mail me or any other SBA Governor at your convenience with any concerns, questions, or comments.
Message to the Board of Governors:
Welcome back! Congratulations again to the new Board. We have a fantastic group of representatives this year and I anticipate a productive and exciting new administration! This is a reminder that our first full Board of Governors meeting will take place on Thursday, August 27, at 5:00 pm (the room designation will be e-mailed to you shortly). We have at least three voting items to discuss in addition to committee appointments; a full and final agenda will sent to you prior to the meeting. If you have anything to add to the agenda, e-mail me ASAP. Please attend this very important first meeting or prepare to proxy your votes to me prior to meeting date.
I wish everyone the best of luck this year and I look forward to working more closely with you this coming year!
