First membership meeting: Wednesday, September 16, at 5:00 p.m., room T.B.A. -- check the board. Food will be served!

Welcome back everyone! We hope everyone had a relaxing summer. Thanks to everyone that signed up for KJF during orientation. We will be having our first general membership meeting on Wednesday, September 16, at 3:00pm in room 170.

For those of you that are not familiar with KJF, we are a school-sponsored organization that promotes the field of Public Interest Law. Our main activities during the school year revolve around our Annual Spring Auction held in March. During the year, we solicit donations from hotels, airlines, restaurants, and other esablishments. Some professors even donate dinners or movies at their home. We then auction these items off to raise money for scholarships for students that work in unpaid positions during the summer in areas of public interest law, including the state's attorney. Anyone can apply for these funds, but they generally go to students who help out with KJF activities. Our auction last March was a great success, and we raised over $16,000 for scholarships.

At our meeting on Wednesday, we will be discussing the auction and other activities that KJF is involved in. We will also be picking the winner of the $100 bookstore gift certificate, for those of you who filled out a raffle ticket. If you are interested in being a 1L Representative, we will be choosing two people for that position.

Even if you're not looking for a job in the area of public interest law, joining KJF is a good way to support a great cause! We hope to see you at our meeting on Wednesday!

Polska Wola, the Polish-American law students organization, will hold its first organizational meeting on Tuesday, September 22, room TBA.
