INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT
Try Outs for International Moot Court Teams
The International Moot Court Honor Society invites all students who are currently enrolled in or have completed International Law or International Law Advanced Research to try out for this year's International Moot Court teams. Prior knowledge of international law is not a requirement to participate in the candidacy competition.
The candidacy competition will consist of researching and writing a memorial (brief), followed by a short oral argument. Candidates may choose to write their briefs in support of either party's position.
A new type of position on the International Moot Court Honor Society will tentatively be created this year based on student response. A position of "researcher" will be created that would allow students to participate in IMCHS without participating in the oral argument portion of our annual competitions. The researcher will participate in the research and writing of the briefs to be submitted to the competitions and will assist the team members in preparation of oral arguments, but will not actually argue at any competition. Any student interested in this new position is required to complete the regular candidacy program, including a brief oral argument.
The competition problem and packet of information will be available Tuesday, September 4, outside room C76. The written brief is due on Monday, September 17. Oral arguments will take place approximately a week later. We will announce times and room
arrangements for oral arguments when they are finalized.

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT:
Throughout the Chicago area, many people are in need of legal, economic, and various other kinds of aid. Through KJF, we hope to show the community that the low-income and underprivileged of Chicago will not be ignored. Whether you work one Saturday a month or a couple hours in a day, things like packing lunches for the homeless, tutoring children, or interning for a non-profit organization will make an irreplaceable impact on those who have been helped. We hope that you will join KJF and help show the legal community at large that all people, regardless of their socioeconomic positions in society, must be provided with a chance to find justice.
SUMMER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM:
The Kent Justice Foundation is dedicated to the principle that law students should be encouraged to work in public interest law and that no student should be kept from doing so for financial reasons. Through KJF, students are offered the opportunity to apply for a summer fellowship to compensate for volunteer-oriented summer public interest jobs.
Students apply for the fellowship the spring prior to the summer in which they are to begin their job. Criteria for receiving a fellowship include financial need, a personal statement, and participation in both KJF fundraising events and volunteer opportunities.
HOW WE FUNDRAISE:
Throughout the year, KJF sponsors many fellowship fundraising events such as bake sales, T-shirt sales (OUR T-SHIRTS ARE GREAT!), a spaghetti dinner in the fall, and most importantly the annual SPRING AUCTION.
SPRING AUCTION:
In previous years, the auction has raised between $15,000 and $20,000 to go toward summer fellowships for students. Auction packages have varied from dinners with professors to sporting event, concert, theater and movie tickets to hotel stays and weekends across the United States. All proceeds from the spring auction go towards our Summer Fellowship Program.
There are many opportunities to help organize and run the auction, from bartending to decorating, etc.
This is KJF's signature event that will be entering its 11th year this spring!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
KJF sponsors various volunteer opportunities for Chicago-Kent students. These include: charity walks and runs, participating in events sponsored by numerous non-profit organizations throughout Chicago, collecting food and clothing for those in need, and taking part in programs that increase awareness of the
challenges and rewards of public interest law.
