Student Bar Association

SBA to vote on amendments to its governing documents

At the next Student Bar Association meeting, the SBA will be voting on amendments to its governing documents. The first is a complete revamp of the Student Bar Association Bylaws, streamlining the SBA and providing more flexibility to your elected officials. The proposed changes may be read here. (link)

Secondly, the Student Bar Association will be voting on changes to the Financial Code to provide student organizations with more flexibility in the appropriations process. The amended financial code, as it would stand if approved, may be found here. (link)

The Student Bar Association welcomes any feedback on either of these changes. Please contact your SBA representatives or the SBA Treasurer for questions, comments, or concerns.

Save the date for the first annual LGBT Civil Rights Conference hosted by the Chicago-Kent Lambdas

The conference will take place on Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5. Seminar topics include Marriage Equality Litigation, DADT, LGBT Teen Suicide, Bullying & Hate Crimes, Transgender Rights, LGBT Political Candidacy, the Criminalization of LGBT Persons, Litigating an LGBT Civil Rights Case in Illinois, the Similarities Between Same-Sex Marriage and Interracial Marriage Bans, and What to Expect from Civil Unions in Illinois. Several hours of CLE credit pending.
