Student Bar Association

SBA's first General Assembly Meeting

The Student Bar Association (SBA) held its first General Assembly Meeting of the 2011-2012 school year on September 11, 2011 to: (1) discuss and approve the 2011-2012 Student Organizational Budget; (2) plan social events for the year, including The Barrister’s Ball; (3) plan for more American Bar Association-sponsored events to benefit our students; (4) addressing technology issues affecting our students; (5) discussed efforts to help Kent students navigate the difficult economy; and (6) other strategies to improve academic life for students at Kent.

Child and Family Law Society

Career panel

Join us for a career panel on Tuesday, September 27, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 170 to hear from a panel of attorneys who practice in a variety of family law jobs. Food provided!

Journal of Environmental and Energy Law

The Journal of Environmental and Energy Law is seeking applicants for several journal positions:

Associate Editors

Role: Work with the executive articles editors to edit a portion of one article to be published each fall and spring semester.

Application process: Contact managing editor Kendra Garstka at kgarstka@kentlaw.edu for editing test. Complete and return editing test by midnight on Friday, September 30. Also include brief statement of interest and résumé (optional).

Associate Research Editors

Role: Work with the research editor to maintain JEEL website's "In The News" section with short blog items posted on a bi-weekly basis (at least) that spotlight major flashpoints in environmental and energy law... in the news.

Associate research editors will also be asked to contribute at least one original piece each semester for the section, which could be a short formal article or could be a Q&A interview with a professor or practitioner about a particular environmental and energy law topic... in the news.

Application process: Submit a brief statement of interest along with your résumé to jeel@kentlaw.edu by midnight on Friday, September 30. In addition, compile a list of what you think are the top five most interesting environmental and energy law topics... in the news.

Webmaster

Role: Work with the editor-in-chief on a WordPress-based redesign of JEEL website: http://www.kentlaw.edu/student_orgs/jeel/.

Facilitate publication of fall and spring editions of JEEL. Work with the research editor to facilitate publishing of "In the News" section.

Application process: Submit a brief statement of interest along with your résumé to jeel@kentlaw.edu by midnight on Friday, September 30.

What is JEEL?

JEEL is an online journal at Chicago-Kent focused on advancing legal discourse on important developments, practices and theories in the area of environmental and energy law.
