Student Organization Headlines

Headlines for the Week of August 27, 2012

The Federalist Society

Happy Hour with the Federalist Society!

Are you conservative or libertarian? Do you feel that the ideas of liberty and limited government are being ignored today? Are you interested in meeting other like-minded folks at Chicago-Kent? Do you like beer? If so, then come out to happy hour and meet the executive board of the Federalist Society on Wednesday, August 29!

We are an organization that eats, sleeps and breathes limited government and enumerated powers. We are not avowed Democrats nor are we Republicans; we just want smaller and more limited government.

This happy hour will be an informal way for 1Ls as well as everyone interested to meet the executive board and get involved with future events. So please join us at Dugan's on Halsted (Adams at Halsted) at 4 p.m. on the 29th!

If you have any questions, please e-mail us at chikentfedsoc@gmail.com.

The Journal of International and Comparative Law

Seeking new staff members

The Journal of International and Comparative Law is seeking new staff members. Editors will be chosen based on their performance on a brief editing test to be emailed to interested students on September 12.

We are also seeking a tech- or design-savvy student to help redesign our website.

For more information about the journal and to receive the editing test, visit the journal's table at the Student Organization Fair on September 11 or attend our information session on Wednesday, September 12, at 4 p.m.

If you are unable to attend the fair or information session, or are interested in serving as web designer, email jicl@kentlaw.iit.edu.

Sportfeasors

September 13: Race Judicata

Race Judicata is a 5k run/walk that supports Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, and basically the entire Chicago legal community participates. Not only is it TONS OF FUN, it is a great way to meet fellow students, as well as alumni and faculty, and to network with attorneys from around the city. If you're new to running, don't worry, all experience levels are welcome!

The Sportfeasors have an official team this year, and we're expecting a huge turnout. We've reserved a tent for those who sign up to run with the Sportfeasors, and we'd love to have as many students run with us as possible! When you register for the race (www.cvls.org/judicata), please choose Chicago-Kent Sportfeasors from the team drop down menu, and email sportfeasors@kentlaw.iit.edu when you do so that we can make sure to include you. Register by September 7 to receive a reduced rate!

For more info on the rules, go to the Race Judicata website and check out the competition entry form.

Thanks, and we hope to see you all there!

Erin Forbes, President
Matt Dillinger, Vice President

Sportfeasors is a student organization that promotes health and camaraderie through athletics. Let's face it, law school is stressful...staying active helps. Please feel free to email any questions about Sportfeasors or Race Judicata to sportfeasors@kentlaw.iit.edu.
