September 28: Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago "Meet the Bar" event

LAGBAC, the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago, is hosting its first "Meet the Bar" event of the school year Friday, September 28, at Sidetrack. The monthly "Meet the Bar" events are great networking opportunities to meet attorneys from all over the Chicagoland area.

October 12: Inter-law school social

Lambdas will be hosting an inter-law school social Friday, October 12, at the Downtown Bar & Lounge. All Chicago law schools' LBGTQ organizations will be in attendance, so it's a great opportunity to meet other students from outside Chicago-Kent!

November 1: Chili cook-off

Do you like chili? Do you think you make chili great enough to receive a CALI? Then save the date for the first annual Chicago-Kent Lambdas' chili cook-off, happening Thursday, November 1.

Child and Family Law Society

September 25: Child and Family Law Society's first general meeting!

Child and Family Law Society is having their first general meeting on Tuesday, September 25, at 1 p.m., in room 370. Come to our meeting for a free lunch and to learn more about the activities we have planned for the semester. We look forward to seeing returning members and meeting new ones!

Environmental Law Society

October 9: Roundtable event

Come to a roundtable discussion with Leverett "Rett" Nelson, associate deputy regional counsel at the Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5. The roundtable will be held on Tuesday, October 9, at noon. Sign up on ELS TWEN or contact Katie at kwheele2@kentlaw.iit.edu.

October 25: "Wildlife, Renewable Energy and Climate Change Critical Legal Issues"

From 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Chicago-Kent, the ISBA Animal Law Section Council, ISBA Environmental Law Section Council, and Chicago-Kent is throwing a CLE event to discuss critical environmental legal issues.

First in Law

September 25: First informational meeting

First in Law is having their first informational meeting on Tuesday, September 25, at noon in room C25! Lunch will be provided!

About First in Law
First in Law seeks to develop a network of students who are the first in their immediate families to attend law school, in order to provide support, insight into law school and the legal profession, aid in the development of skills, and help in the employment process.

Military Law Society

September 27: JAG Corps speaker

Hello, everyone! On Thursday, September 27, at 4 p.m., Colonel Kantwill is coming to speak with the Military Law Society about the JAG Corps. Topics will include the responsibilities of his current and past positions, the steps he took to enter JAG, how and why he chose this career path, and the pros and cons of working in the military. The room is yet to be determined. This event is open to everyone, and we hope to see you there!

South Asian Law Student Association

September 25: First general meeting

SALSA announces its first general meeting on Tuesday, September 25, at noon (ending before 1 p.m.) in room 547. We will introduce the new SALSA executive board and meet everyone interested in the organization. We will also be seeking 1L representatives and discussing future events, including fundraising, networking, and joint ventures with other student organizations.

We will also talk about submitting to and being a part of Satyam, the Chicago-Kent College of Law Journal on South Asia and the Law. This journal is still very new and is a great opportunity for students to gain writing experience and broaden their horizons. The general meeting is open to all students, and pizza and drinks will be provided! We hope to see you there!
