Military Law Society
October 15 to 18: Thanksgiving Food and Supply Drive to support the troops
Help support the troops this week from October 15 to 18 by donating items to the MLS Thanksgiving Food and Supply Drive and earn a raffle ticket for a chance to pie a professor!
We have been in contact with a platoon currently deployed overseas, and they have been kind enough to send us a list of requested items: beef jerky, turkey spam, pies (sealed pumpkin/pecan pies), prepackaged desserts (cookies, brownies, etc.), chips, peanuts, magazines, DVDs, M&Ms (or other shelled chocolates), chewing gum, sunflower seeds, Capri-Suns/juice boxes, individual powdered drink mixes, protein powder/bars and other GNC items, baby wipes ("Wet Ones"), body powder, thick socks, and skivvies (underwear sizes 32-34).
The Military Law Society will be set up on the third floor outside of the Spak collecting these items. Stop by and donate what you can, and you will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to pie a professor. For every two items donated you get one raffle ticket, and for every five items donated you get three raffle tickets. Additionally, the MLS will be collecting money: $5 gets you two tickets and $10 gets you four tickets. Please take advantage of this opportunity to support your troops and also to win the chance to pie a professor.
Student Animal Legal Defense Fund
Join the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund! Board members needed.
The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund has been reorganized this year, and we need members and a board! SALDF is a proactive group interested in all aspects of animal and agricultural law. This field covers topics such as ethical livestock care techniques, animal ownership rights, animal abuse and violence laws, and therapy/service dog training programs. SALDF's main goal is to participate in activism for various local nonprofits and to conduct and attend educational opportunities for this niche area of environmental law. Please email email@example.com to sign up and receive emails about events, volunteer opportunities, and meetings. Once we get a group back together, we can have our first meeting and plan for the year.
Women in Law
Society of Women in Law Mentor Program Kick-Off Reception
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or (312) 906-5240 by Friday, October 12, if you plan to attend.
Everyone who signed up for the mentor program through Women in Law is invited to attend our reception! There will be drinks and appetizers, and a lot of alumnae to mingle with. If your mentor can make it, it is a great way to meet with her in a relaxed environment; and if she can't, there will be plenty of other attorneys there and a lot of your fellow students. If you have any questions, feel free to email our mentorship chair, Lauren Zabrin, at email@example.com.
