November 8: Legal Networking and Panel Discussion with the Chinese American Bar Association

an evening of
Legal Networking and Panel Discussion with CABA
.

Please join us on Thursday, November 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the 10th floor event room at Chicago-Kent's Downtown Campus, where you will have the opportunity to meet with other practicing attorneys and discuss the prospect of practicing law.

Light appetizers and drinks will be provided. Also an open Q&A session will be held at the very end to ensure all of your questions are answered.

November 13: Careers in Family Law Panel

Think outside the box when it comes to practicing family law! Family law attorneys work on a wide range of matters with diverse client populations, in both private and public interest settings. Hear from a panel of practicing attorneys about the work they do:

Journal of International and Comparative Law

Volume 12 released!

Volume 12 of the Chicago-Kent Journal of International and Comparative Law has been released. Articles and Student Notes can be found here. Cases & Controversies, which summarize current events and cases of international or foreign tribunals, can be found here.

Congratulations to the new associate editors!

The journal is pleased to welcome our new editors: Dana Pownall, Catherine Lee, Holli Dobler, Bradley Thomas, Mina Mineva, Asha George, Michael Barnes, Michael Jimenez, Michael Buchcar, Andrea Coutu, Amy Chesshir, Jamie Flatley, Judy Shammo, and Peter Cassata. Congratulations!

Student article submission invitation

The journal invites any Chicago-Kent student to submit an article for publication under the Student Notes section. Student Notes can be any length, but the journal recommends they be at least 15 pages long. Notes are usually the product of a seminar paper but can be specially written for the journal. Email us at jicl@kentlaw.iit.edu to submit a paper or to express interest in submitting within the 2012-13 school year.

Labor and Employment Law Society

November 13: Labor and Employment Law Career Panel

On November 13, LELS will be hosting a panel on careers in labor and employment law from noon to 1:30 p.m. in room 370. Members of the diverse panel will include attorneys from the NLRB, Chicago Teachers Union, Hughes Socol Piers Resnick and Dym, Seyfarth Shaw, Exelon and the Law Office of David A. Hemenway. Lunch will be provided and catered by Wow Bao.

November 14: De-stress at our yoga class

Stressed out? Need to relax? Or just a good stretch?

Mark your calendars! The Chicago-Kent Sportfeasors are hosting a yoga class, taught by our very own Trish Abbott! And if you're a 1L, note the date--you'll definitely be in need of some good de-stressing after submitting your statutory research!

Who: YOU! All students welcome!
When: Wednesday, November 14, 6 to 7 p.m.
Where: 10th floor event room

If you're interested in attending, please sign up on the Google spreadsheet. And be sure to note if you will be bringing your own yoga mat.

Student Animal Legal Defense Fund

Become a member and sign up for our newsletter

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund is a proactive group interested in all aspects of animal and agricultural law. This field covers topics such as ethical livestock care techniques, animal ownership rights, animal abuse and violence laws, and therapy/service dog training programs. SALDF's main goal is to participate in activism for various local nonprofits and to conduct and attend educational opportunities for this niche area of environmental law.
