Child and Family Law Society Student-Alumni Networking Event

When: Wednesday, February 27, 5 to 7 p.m.

If you are interested in a career in family law, this event will give you the opportunity to meet and network with alumni working in the area. This is the perfect chance to make connections for future jobs and spend time with other students interested in this unique area of the law. Food and drinks will be provided.

The Federalist Society

Professor Stinneford speaks on cruel and unusual punishment, the Eighth Amendment, and the death penalty

Where: Room C20
When: Wednesday, February 13, 3 to 4 p.m.

The Federalist Society will be hosting Professor John Stinneford of the University of Florida Levin College of Law to discuss cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment and, specifically, the death penalty. Professor Stinneford has authored articles on cruel and unusual punishment for publication in leading law journals, including the Virginia Law Review and the Northwestern University Law Review. Prior to joining the University of Florida, he practiced criminal law in Chicago and served as an assistant U.S. attorney.

Coffee and pastries will be served.

Journal of International and Comparative Law

The Journal of International and Comparative Law invites Chicago-Kent students to submit articles by February 15 for spring 2013 publication

The journal invites any Chicago-Kent student to submit an article for publication in the spring 2013 volume under the Student Notes section. Student Notes can be any length, but the journal recommends they be at least 15 pages long. Notes are usually the product of a seminar paper but can be specially written for the journal. Email us at jicl@kentlaw.iit.edu under the subject "C-K Student Note" by February 15 to submit a paper for the 2012-13 school year.

Justinian Society of Lawyers

February 11: Justinian Society luncheon

Calling all Italians! The Justinian Society of Lawyers is Chicago's largest ethnic legal society. On February 11, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., members from the parent organization are coming to campus to discuss the many benefits of joining, including their fabulous mentoring program and their scholarship opportunities. Free lunch will be provided courtesy of the main chapter in room 570.

Women in Law

February 13: Women in Law bake sale for One Billion Rising

This Wednesday, February 13, in the lobby, Chicago-Kent's Women in Law student organization will be having a bake sale to raise money for One Billion Rising. One Billion Rising is an organization designed to promote awareness about violence against women and to encourage a change in how women are treated worldwide. Stop by and donate to the cause for some baked goods!
