Bar & Gavel Society nominations

The Student Bar Association is seeking nominations for the Bar & Gavel Society!

The Bar & Gavel Society is a prestigious society composed of graduating students (3Ls and 4Ls) who have demonstrated leadership and service to the law school. Up to 12 of the nominees will be admitted. Past recipients have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to the law school, the community and the legal profession.

If you think that you or someone you know fits these criteria, please submit a nomination to Alexander "Sasha" Kakabadse at akakabad@kentlaw.iit.edu. You can nominate yourself! Nominations must state the reasons for the nomination and specifically refer to the candidate's law school activities, outside legal activities, and service. Nominations should not exceed 250 words, but may include a résumé, and are due April 6, 2013 (please include in the subject line "Nomination for Bar & Gavel").

SBA Awards nominations

Its that time of year again to start recognizing all of the outstanding accomplishments of your fellow Chicago-Kent students and staff! The SBA will start accepting nominations for SBA Awards beginning the week after spring break, March 25, and will continue to accept nominations until Friday, April 12. The SBA is looking for nominations from the student body for the following awards:

  • Staff Member of the Year
  • Adjunct Professor of the Year
  • Professor of the Year
  • Ralph Brill Award (which will be awarded to a staff member, faculty member or alumnus/alumna who has graduated at least 10 years before the award is given and has shown exemplary service and accomplishment)
  • Student Organization of the Year

Nominations shall consist of a letter stating the reasons for the nomination, specifically referring to the candidate's law school activities, outside legal activities, and service. Once all nominations are received, the Awards Committee will select up to three nominees for each award, and the student body will vote.
