Women In Law

August 27: Welcome back! Please stop by our table at the Student Organization Fair

September 10: Join us for a screening of Miss Representation at Loyola

Welcome, 1Ls! And welcome back to continuing students! We hope that you had a great summer! Please stop by our table at the Student Org Fair on August 27 to learn about our organization and to sign up for our mailing list so that you don't miss the info about our upcoming General Meeting and Fall Welcome Back Social (dates TBA). We're looking forward to a great year! Good luck on the first week of classes!

Additionally, we would like to include information from our Women's Bar Association of Illinois Liaison, Catie Lee, regarding WBAI's next event--a screening of Miss Representation. Planned by this year's WBAI president, Michelle Kohut, there will be a screening of the movie Miss Representation on September 10 at 5 p.m. at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. The documentary Miss Representation, by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and aired on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. The 90-minute film explores how the media's misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence. After the screening, there will be a cocktail/networking reception.

If you have any questions about Women In Law do not hesitate to email President Gabri Asrow at gasrow@kentlaw.iit.edu or Secretary Nicole Wilmet at nwilmet@kentlaw.iit.edu. You can also stay up to date with all Women In Law events by adding the organization to your courses on TWEN.
