PAD and SBA are thrilled to be supporting the American Red Cross Blood Drive on November 9 from noon to 5 p.m. at the 10th floor Morris Hall. Sign-ups for blood donation appointments will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 28 outside of the 3rd floor Spak.

October 26: "Confederate Flag: Treason or Liberty Symbol?"

Hosted by the Federalist Society.

Is the display of the Confederate flag a protected right? Professor John Kunich (UNC at Charlotte) will be debating our own Professor Sheldon Nahmod on this issue.

Intellectual Property Law Society

October 27: Pro Bono for the Creative Arts

Marci Rolnik Walker and other attorneys from Lawyers for the Creative Arts will speak about Lawyers for the Creative Arts in general how we can get involved in the organization as students and with pro bono work in IP in general. The event is cohosted with the Art and Cultural Property Law Society, and lunch will be served! Noon in room 270.

October 28: Strategies for Business and Law: Is It Patent Eligible?

Co-Sponsored by K&L Gates, Chicago-Kent's Program in IP Law, Chicago-Kent's Intellectual Property Law Society and the IP Management & Markets Program.

Aaron Morrow and Benjamin Weed of K&L Gates will discuss insight and strategies for Section 101 patent eligibility in light of recent USPTO patent eligibility guidance and recent court decisions. Ian McClure of Blackstone IP will present a business response.

Wednesday, October 28 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Chicago-Kent Auditorium. Reception to follow in the Chicago-Kent Richard B. Ogilvie lobby from 4 to 5 p.m.

October 27: The annual KJF Wine Event: "A Cabernet Cabaret"

The annual KJF Wine Event, "A Cabernet Cabaret," is this Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the front lobby. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Look for the table in the lobby or outside the SPAK to buy your tickets.  Raffle tickets are $1 or 6 for $5. 

Come enjoy unlimited tastings of Chicago-Kent faculty members' favorite wines and enter to win some fabulous prizes. Food and beverages donated from local restaurants. All proceeds support grants for Chicago-Kent students to do public interest work. See you there!

Student Animal Legal Defense Fund

Clerkship opportunity

Animal Legal Defense Fund is a hiring clerk for summer 2016! Clerkships are available in our Litigation and Criminal Justice Programs. They are open to second-year students only (rising third-year students). There is a monthly stipend of $2,400, to assist you in paying for reasonable expenses, including room and board, gas, travel, and other expenses.

October 29: SALDF's Halloween Contest: Pet Edition

Submit a photo of your pet wearing an adorable costume with a short blurb that includes your pet’s name and costume! SALDF is accepting submissions from October 12 to 22. Submissions can be sent to

Voting will take place on Thursday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the front lobby. $1 per vote.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Petco/Petsmart/Pet Supplies Plus,s and the remainder of the proceeds will be donated to a local animal rescue organization.

Student Humanitarian Network

October 27: Chicago-Kent's premier Halloween party

The Student Humanitarian Network is hosting Costumes and Kegs, Chicago-Kent's premier Halloween party, on Thursday, October 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the front lobby! Costumes strongly encouraged!

Advance tickets cost $8 and will be available at our bake sale on Tuesday, October 27, in the lobby. Tickets at the door will be $12. Got class? Tickets during the final hour of the event are a paltry $5!

Don't forget to submit a photo of yourself for our costume contest! Have your picture taken Thursday, October 29, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the lobby, or email a picture of your costume to Prizes go to the top three costumes!
