American Constitution Society

March 20: "First Look: Executive Power in the Trump Administration" discussion

Executive orders have rocketed into the spotlight in the opening weeks of Trump’s presidency. How did we get here and what lies ahead? Join Harold Krent, dean of Chicago-Kent College of Law; Colleen Connell, executive director of ACLU-IL; and Professor Christopher Schmidt of Chicago Kent, for a discussion about the source and extent of the president’s executive powers.

Time: 5 to 6 p.m.

American Constitution Society and the Federalist Society

March 9: "What's the Verdict on Neil Gorsuch?" panel discussion

On Thursday, March 9, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., the American Constitution Society and the Federalist Society will be hosting a panel titled "What's the Verdict on Neil Gorsuch?" It will be a panel discussion on President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court. Our panelists will be:

  • Ilya Shapiro, Cato Institute
  • Christopher Schmidt, Chicago-Kent
  • Carolyn Shapiro, Chicago-Kent

The event will be held in the auditorium and food fill be served in the lobby after the event. We hope you can make it!

March 9: Black Lives Matter speaking event

Chicago-Kent's BLSA is hosting a Black Lives Matter speaking event on Thursday, March 9, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 170. Black Lives Matter Chicago organizers will speak about the organization, their platform, their short-term and long-term goals, and ways for the Chicago-Kent community to get involved.

March 9: Second annual alumni celebration event

Join the Chicago-Kent Justinian Society in celebration of the second annual alumni event on March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the 10th floor! This unique networking event is an opportunity to meet potential employers. All are welcome. Food and drinks will be provided. No cost to attend.
