March 20: "First Look: Executive Power in the Trump Administration" discussion
Executive orders have rocketed into the spotlight in the opening weeks of Trump’s presidency. How did we get here and what lies ahead? Join Harold Krent, dean of Chicago-Kent College of Law; Colleen Connell, executive director of ACLU-IL; and Professor Christopher Schmidt of Chicago Kent, for a discussion about the source and extent of the president’s executive powers.

March 13: Volunteer with the Chicago Bar Association's Wills for Heroes Program
The Wills for Heroes Foundation provides essential estate planning documents free of charge to our nation's veterans and first responders. The Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and Exelon have partnered with the national wills for Heroes Foundation to offer this service in Chicago. At our events, volunteers attorneys, who need no experience, prepare basic Wills and powers of attorney for first responders and veterans and their spouses or partners.
Law students can participate by pairing up with attorneys during the document preparation phase of the program or by serving as witnesses during the execution of the documents. Sign up here.

Program Schedule:
- 8:30 a.m.: HotDocs software training
- 9 a.m.: First client appointments
- Noon: Last client appointments
The event is typically completed between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Many of the drafting attorneys leave once they’ve completed their last client’s documents, often around 12:30 or 1 p.m.
