September 12: First general meeting

The Environmental Law Society will be having its first general meeting on Tuesday, September 12 at noon in room C35. Come learn about the exciting events planned for this year. As always, free food. Hope to see you there! 

National Lawyers Guild

September 16: National Lawyers Guild (Dis)orientation

If you are interested in public interest or people's lawyering come to the National Lawyers Guild's annual (Dis)orientation in Chicago-Kent auditorium on Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Dis)orientation is a city-wide event where law students, legal workers, and activists come together to discuss how to endure law school and become lawyers accountable to oppressed communities and liberation movements. Haifa Cafe is catering lunch and a happy hour will follow. Admission is free!

Topics include Law School 101, Law in Action, Movement Lawyering and Policy, Accountability to Oppressed Communities and Movements, and a Legal Observer Training. Speakers include lawyers and organizers with People's Law Office, Chicago Community Bond Fund, Community Activism Law Alliance, First Defense Legal Aid, Uptown People's Law Center, and other organizations!
