Chicago-Kent's Environmental Law Society (ELS) is a student organization focused on enhancing Chicago-Kent's profile as one of the nation's top-rated environmental law schools. We do this by:

  • Heightening awareness of environmental law and its connection with other bodies of law and disciplines;
  • Promoting sustainability within our law school;
  • Raising student eco-consciousness and encouraging personal sustainability throughout the student body;
  • Supporting students financially in their quest to serve the environment; and
  • Contributing to the enhancement of the environmental law curriculum.

We pursue this mission in a number of ways, including speaker panels, environmental summits, internal initiatives, fund-raising and social events. We are also a member of the National Association of Environmental Law Societies (NAELS), which enables us to network and partner nationwide.

Attention Alumni: If you would like to donate to the ELS, you can easily make a contribution online (please select Environmental Law Society as the beneficiary program).

Also, we are always seeking to reconnect with alumni of ELS and the PEEL program.  If you haven't heard from us recently or would like to get involved, please email Alumni Communications Coordinator Andrew Dorn.

Alumni Relations

ELS has added a new Executive Board position this year: the Alumni Liason. The Alumni Liason will be an important addition to the ELS Board, responsible for collecting and maintaining a working list of PEEL & ELS alumni. This will help ELS keep alums updated on current initiatives and participation opportunities and help provide a broader networking base for current students. If you are a PEEL or ELS alumnus, or soon will be, please contact Andrew Dorn with your current employer and contact information.
