Evan McGinley, Illinois Attorney General, Environmental Enforcement Division.
Mr. McGinley is a Chicago-Kent alum with thirteen years experience. Prior to his work as an AAG, Mr.
McGinley practiced environmental law at two mid-sized firms in Los Angeles.

Marie Tipsord and Kathleen Crowley, Illinois Pollution Control Board
Ms. Tipsord is the Attorney Assistant to IPCB’s Acting Chairman Girard. Kathleen Crowley is Senior
Staff Attorney for the Board. They tell great stories and frequently hire Kent externs.

Joel Brammeier, Alliance for the Great Lakes
Mr. Brammeier serves as acting president and CEO of the Alliance for the Great Lakes. On staff since
2001, Joel oversees a staff of 20 professionals dedicated to protecting and restoring clean water,
educating citizens and youth and building a sustainable future for the Great Lakes

Eileen Furey and Leslie Kirby-Miles, U.S. EPA, Region 5, Office of Regional Counsel
Ms. Furey is a Section Chief for the ORC with extensive experience in brownfield development. Ms.
Kirby-Miles is an Associate Regional Counsel for the ORC, and also a Chicago-Kent alum.

ADOPT-A-BEACH CLEAN UP, Saturday, September 19, 2009 –– Every year, students from Kent adopt a beach in Chicago to pick up recyclables and trash from the sand to keep the shoreline beautiful! This year, we’ll be heading to the 63rd Street Beach in Hyde Park. Please RSVP to Melissa Senatore if you’d like to go. A car pool will be available –– let us know if you can drive!
2010 ELS Summer Fellowship –– If you are an ELS member and plan to work at an unpaid environmental law internship over the summer, then you are eligible for the ELS fellowship. More on this coming soon!
University of Florida/University of Costa Rica: Environmental Law & Sustainable Development Summer Study Abroad –– Not quite an “event,” but since four Chicago-Kent students have attended this program in (mostly) San Jose, Costa Rica and have had a great time, we thought you should know about this incredible learning opportunity! 2009 Alumni Career Panel –– Come meet Chicago-Kent alumni who have found careers in environmental law! Speaker Event –– “The Future of the Illinois Clean Cars Bill,” given by Laura Knezevic of Chicago’s own Environmental Law and Policy Center will speak on Wednesday, March 11 at 3 p.m. in Room 590 at Chicago-Kent. Come hear about the past, and more importantly the future of this initiative.
