Announcing the Next Installment of ELS Roundtables!

The first 12 students to RSVP for each Roundtable will receive a free lunch featuring a government agency, non-profit, or law firm!

How it works: RSVP to Jennifer Schaffer at, indicating the roundtable(s) that you wish to attend. Then, show up in room 355 to enjoy free lunch with an environmental practitioner, courtesy of ELS. The lunch is informal. If you have questions for our guest, feel free to ask them. If not, just come eat and make new friends.

Please note that there is a 12 student maximum (excluding the ELS organizer), so you must RSVP for the roundtable and be put on the guest list. If you are scheduled to attend, but cannot make it, please notify Jennifer as soon as possible.

Lunch with Shedd's Aquarium

Tuesday, February 23 from 12:00-1:00pm (Room 355)

Jim Robinett is the VP Legislation & Regulation at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.  He'll talk about how legislation and regulation impacts zoos and aquariums, as well as museums broadly in the US.  He'll also be discussing how these civic institutions use legal council in their operations, and will talk about his own "alternative career path" that led him into this job.

Lunch with the Chicago Zoological Society

Tuesday, March 2 from 12:00-1:00pm (Room 355)

Meet Jim Ritt, an antitrust lawyer turned environmental teacher. Mr. Ritt practiced law for over 30 years, working as a prosecutor in a law firm, and as in-house counsel. Eventually retiring from law, Mr. Ritt is now an instructor at the Chicago Zoological Society and teaches environmentally oriented classes for students from preschool through graduate school.

ELS Organizer: Jennifer Baader

Again, RSVP to to reserve your space.
