The Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyer Environmental Law Committee Meeting
Law Society members are invited to attend the Environmental Law
Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section that
will take place on February 24th at 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm at the Chicago
Bar Association. The meeting will feature Illinois Pollution Control
Board Member Carrie Zalewski, who will be speaking about practicing law
before the Illinois Pollution Control Board. Ms. Zalewski was appointed
to the Illinois Pollution Control Board by Governor Pat Quinn in 2009.

Register Today: March 4th Environmental Law Symposium
Environmental Law Society and Chicago Park District are co-hosting the
Great Lakes Environmental Law Symposium on March 4, 2011 from 12-5pm
with a networking reception to follow. The symposium will focus on
issues facing the Chicago Area Waterway System, such as the ongoing
Asian carp litigation, water quality standards applicable to the
Chicago River, as well as efforts to study separating the Great Lakes
from the Mississippi River. The symposium will be held in the
Chicago-Kent auditorium. There will be a $5 entrance fee that includes the panels, open bar, and netwroking reception. Learn more and register here.
Elections for 1L Section Representative
Environmental Law Society will be holding elections for new 1L Section
A and B representatives. Eligible candidates are dues-paying ELS
members from Section A, B and C. Interested members please send a

Last Week's Festivities
We had a great turn-out at the inter-school social last
week. Thanks again for alums Nicole Mayer, Jenny Grossman and
Katy Lemanski for coming out! Also, we raised over $300 at our
Valentine's Sweet Treat Bakesale on Monday. All the proceeds will
go entirely towards our 3 fellowships.
Earthday Coming Soon
Environmental Law Society will be holding events for Earth Week in
mid-April, which will include a movie and popcorn night, an alumni
panel and a raffle. We also have a beach cleanup coming up soon, stay

Register for Lobby Day
Environmental Law Society will be bringing a group of student to
Springfield to see how the legislative process works first hand.
The date is Tuesday, March 29th (evening) to Wednesday, March 30th (all
day) and the cost will be between $25-50 depending on how many people

Energy Bar Assocoaition Membership
