Register Today: March 4th Environmental Law Symposium
Environmental Law Society and Chicago Park District are co-hosting the
Great Lakes Environmental Law Symposium on March 4, 2011 from 12-5pm
with a networking reception to follow. The symposium will focus on
issues facing the Chicago Area Waterway System, such as the ongoing
Asian carp litigation, water quality standards applicable to the
Chicago River, as well as efforts to study separating the Great Lakes
from the Mississippi River. The symposium will be held in the
Chicago-Kent auditorium. There will be a $5 entrance fee that includes the panels, open bar, and networking reception. Learn more and register here.
The Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyer Environmental Law Committee Meetings
Law Society members are invited to attend the Environmental Law
Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section activities.
March 24th at 12:15 pm at Chicago Bar Association: Committee meeting,
featuring John Quail, Director of Watershed Planning for Friends of the
Chicago River, and Dave Scriven-Young, attorney at Peckar &
Abramson, discussing environmental issues in land development.
April 16th from 9am-noon, Site To Be Announced: Earth Day Cleanup--
Join the YLS Environmental Law Committee in participating in Friends of
the Parks' Earth Day Clean-Up on Saturday, April 16, 2011. The
YLS will be volunteering at one of the city's parks or preserves from 9
a.m.-12 p.m. Friends of the Parks will provide equipment for the
clean-up, but volunteers are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, gloves,
and weather appropriate gear. There will be an informal gathering at a
local bar near the park afterward to grab a drink, network with fellow
volunteers and toast to a making one of Chicago's parks a little bit

featuring speakers to be announced, regarding use of expert witnesses
in environmental litigation.
May 26th at 12:15 pm at Chicago Bar Association: Committee meeting,
featuring speaker to be announced, regarding criminal aspects of
Earth Day Coming Soon
Environmental Law Society will be holding events for Earth Week in
mid-April, which will include a movie and popcorn night, an alumni
panel and a raffle. We also have a beach cleanup coming up soon, stay

Environmental Law Society will be bringing a group of student
toSpringfield to see how the legislative process works first
The date is Tuesday, March 29th (evening) to Wednesday, March 30th (all
day) and the cost will be between $25-50 depending on how many people
