First ELS General Meeting
On Tuesday, September 6th at 12:30 PM in room C35
ELS will be hosting its first general meeting to kick off the year!
Stop by to learn more about the Environmental Law Society and our plans
for the upcoming semester. This is a great way to get more involved at
Kent and to meet new friends!
Environmental Law Moot Court Team
The environmental law moot court team is looking for three
students (second and third year only) who will represent Chicago-Kent
at the nation's premier environmental law moot court competition: Pace
National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition. To apply for the
team, please e-mail an application, resume, and brief writing sample to
team coaches Kristin Munsch (email@example.com) aand Bes (firstname.lastname@example.org) no later than Tuesday, September 6.
Beach Clean-up on Saturday, September 10th
Meet new and existing ELS members by joining us for the
cleanup of 63rd St. Beach/Jackson Park Beach from 9:00-11:00
am on Saturday, September 10th. Rides will be provided from
Chicago-Kent, or you are welcome to meet up at the beach.
Sign-up sheets are TWEN so please sign-up if you have a car and
are interested in carpooling to the event or if you need a ride. The
cleanup is a great environmentally friendly way to start your weekend!

Environemntal Law Institute Postgraduate Fellowship 2012-2013
in pursuing an environmental law passion after graduation? The
Environmental Law Institute (ELI) offers a law fellow the opportunity
to work closely with ELI attorneys and other professionals to advance
environmental protection by analyzing existing legal tools, developing
new ones, and crafting innovative approaches to implementation.

Environmental Law Networking Event on September 6th
Come meet fellow environmental practitioners and other
attorneys to kick off the start of the CBA and ISBA year! ELS
members are invited to a joint networking event on September 6, 2011, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at
the Chicago Bar Association, 321 S. Plymouth Court. This is a great
opportunity to meet experienced professionals in the environmental
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency: Honors Attorney Fellowship Program
Representatives from the US EPA Region 5 office will come on
campus September 8, 2011, to hold informational interviews with 3Ls
interested in the Honors Attorney Fellowship Program. Please
note, these interviews are not for purposes of hiring for the

The U.S. EPA Region 5 Honors Attorney Fellowship is designed for a
recent law school graduate with excellent academic credentials and a
strong interest in an environmental law career and the public sector.
It provides an opportunity for entry-level attorneys to practice law in
a leading government environmental organization, and to receive
extensive training in and exposure to environmental law and policy work
in the public sector. Region 5 offers Honors Attorneys significant
responsibility, the opportunity to handle a varied caseload that
includes enforcement and counseling work, and extensive training and
mentoring from dedicated colleagues with recognized expertise. The
Region offers a diverse and supportive work environment. The
Region 5 Honors Attorney Fellowship is a temporary two-year position in
the Chicago, Illinois office. The Honors Attorney Fellow is expected to
commit to the full two-year term.
