JURIST is seeking commentary on current environmental legal issues.  JURIST is an ABA and Webby award-winning legal news service that reaches hundreds of thousands of readers weekly. JURIST has been cited 700 times in law reviews and briefs to the US Supreme Court, state supreme courts, and federal appellate courts. The Library of Congress Website has also cited it in nearly 500 published books, and several hundred times. Dateline is JURIST's student commentary service, and we seek original opinion-based articles from law students around the globe regarding their personal and work experiences in a field of law.

Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 Legal Externship

The EPA's Region 5 Office of Regional Council is looking for second or third year law student externs. Externs in Region 5's Office of Regional Counsel typically conduct legal research and write legal memoranda to support enforcement cases brought under Superfund (CERCLA), the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), and the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), among others. 2012 Hogan/Smoger Access to Justice Essay Contest


The Hogan/Smoger Access to Justice Essay Contest is a $5,000
cash award given to the author of the winning essay.  The 2012 topic is: are Factory Farms Hog-Trying People's Rights? The Competition will be judge by a panel of nationally known trial lawyers and law professors.  Information about the rules and criteria are posted on the Public Justice website: www.publicjustice.net/What-We-Do/Awards/Law-School-Essay-Contest.aspx. Interested in pursuing an environmental law passion after graduation? The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) offers a law fellow the opportunity to work closely with ELI attorneys and other professionals to advance environmental protection by analyzing existing legal tools, developing new ones, and crafting innovative approaches to implementation.
