The Intellectual Property Law Society
Resume Workshop

October 13 thru November 13

The Intellectual Property Law Society (IPLS) invites you to participate in our annual Student Resume Workshop. The Student Resume Workshop provides Intellectual Property Law Society members with the opportunity to receive constructive criticism regarding their resumes from Intellectual Property faculty and area Intellectual Property practitioners.

The Student Resume Workshop consists of sessions during which faculty and practitioners meet individually with students to discuss the students’ resumes. The Workshop will tentatively start on October 13, 2003, and conclude on November 13, 2003. Ideally, Workshop sessions will last either twenty or thirty minutes, and most will take place at the law school between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays throughout the duration of the program. Practitioner availability may dictate that some sessions take place at alternate times or locations.

In order to ensure sufficient faculty and practitioner assistance, the Intellectual Property Law Society requests that those students interested in participating in the Workshop designate their interest in participating by sending an e-mail to with “Register for the IP Resume Workshop” in the subject line. The body of this e-mail should contain your full name, those weekdays that you are available between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., your substantive areas of interest (i.e. trademarks, patent prosecution, patent litigation), and your educational and experiential background (e.g. educational background in electrical engineering, work experience as a programmer, etc.). The IPLS will tentatively assign those students indicating an interest in participating to session times as practitioners and faculty members commit time to the Workshop. The IPLS will inform those students accepting a tentatively scheduled session of the name of their reviewer and provide the reviewer with a schedule indicating the names of the students with whom they will meet, as well as any other materials that the student wishes the IPLS to provide to the reviewer prior to the review session. If a student cannot attend the tentatively scheduled session due to a scheduling conflict, the student may decline and request consideration for an alternate session.

Although failure to designate interest in the aforementioned manner will not bar participation in the Workshop, those students complying with the above request will receive priority consideration for sessions. Upon completing the scheduling of those students indicating interest in the above manner, the IPLS will e-mail a list of the remaining open sessions to those members not scheduled for a review session. At this time, those students wishing to participate may register for the remaining available slots on a first-come, first-served basis, by responding to the e-mail with a prioritized list of desired review sessions.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
