Students interested in running for IPLS board should check
out this 30 minute Q&A information session.This session is not required but
recommended if you wish to run.For evening students, or students unable to attend, please contact
the respective board member on the current board.If you wish to run for a position,
email your qualifications/campaign (4-5 sentences) statement to Rachel

Here are the board positions to consider.
The president sets the schedule for each event, oversees the planning
of each event and helps members of the board with their respective
duties.The president also works with
the faculty of the IP department and other student organizations from
time to time.* It is recommended
that the president be a person who previously served on the IPLS
Each year, the IPLS elects one day VP and one evening VP.The VPs serve as second in command
helping the president with her/his duties from time to time.This year, the Evening VP coordinated
the resume' workshop in the fall and the Day VP coordinated the
Student-Alumni reception in the spring.This is a great job for someone that wants to learn how the
program operates.The Evening VP,
typically an evenings student, also helps ensure that evening students
Treasurer's duties include maintaining the group's personal account
including deposits and withdrawals.The treasurer also takes care of all the membership dues and keep
other officers informed as to the account balance and help members budget
various events.The biggest part
is obtaining reimbursement from SBA including assisting in the
preparation and filing of a budget request to SBA each semester.After the event the treasurer submits a
reimbursement request to pay for the event.
The events coordinator handles most of the catering for all IPLS
events. The goal of this position is to maximize the quality and quantity
of food for as low a price as possible. This positions is good for anyone
who likes to stretch limited budgets.
The primary duty of the secretary is to take minutes during executive
meetings and builds the year's the membership list.The secretary also performs other
miscellaneous tasks such as contacting and writing thank you notes to
speakers.Finally, the secretary
also serves as a “floater” and assists other executive members as needed-
such as assisting social chair when ordering food for events and
The webmaster maintains the IPLS website. Webmaster duties include:
updating the site with event information as new info arises; posting
outlines to the IPLS outline database; and looking for new ways to
improve the website or use the website to help the IPLS operations run
smoother. The webmaster also updates the SBA events calendar and posts
announcements to the record.
You do NOT need to be particularly tech-savvy to be Webmaster,
although it certainly helps. The I.T. department holds a training session
at the beginning of each school year to teach you how to update your
student website. In addition, the I.T. department is available for
