Tues., Feb. 7, 2012
12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
If you are a student with an undergrad degree in engineering, computer sciences, or the hard sciences (chemistry, biology, physics, etc.) and are interested in becoming a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney, please note that John White, Academic Director of Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) Patent Bar Review Course, will be here at Chicago-Kent to present an informational program regarding the Patent Bar Exam. Topics for discussion include:
The latest info on the Patent Bar Exam; Who can take it; How it works, now that it's on computer; When you should take it (you don't need to…and probably shouldn't…wait until you graduate); How and when the American Invents Act will impact the Exam; and Recommendations on when and how to study for this very difficult Exam.
Scholarships to PLI's other IP programs will also be discussed. Contact PLI Rep. Joe Janas for IPLS discounts available prior to this event.

IPLS Alumni Awards Ceremony and Reception
Thurs., Apr. 5, 2012
6 to 9 p.m.
10th Floor Event Room
Our premier event for this Spring is the IPLS Alumni Reception. The purpose of the reception is to meet Chicago-Kent alumni, professors, and students involved with IP, recognize a distinguished alumnus/a from Chicago-Kent, and enjoy a cocktail along with some hors d'oeuvres before gearing up for finals. This event is a lot of fun, and is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the IP field from both practitioners and academics.
James Alex will need 2-3 volunteers to assist with the planning. Each volunteer can expect to contribute around 5 hours of total work. Getting involved will give you a leg up if you plan on running for the IPLS board next year, and will also help you learn how to use our school's event planning resources. Contact James or ILPS if you would like to volunteer.
Please visit the IPLS website for information on other upcoming events.
