Week of September 19, 2005

Newsletter

The Journal of Intellectual Property is chugging along full speed ahead.  Volume 5 Issue 1 is now up and running on the journal website (http://jip.kentlaw.edu).  Three new works have already been published, by Maxim Grinberg, Steve Heath, and Sally Parker.  This summer and fall we received over 45 submissions.  We are presently editing 2 new articles by distinguished practitioners in the field, and 2 new student notes.

In other news we would also like to welcome 3 new associate editors who joined the Journal over the summer; Chrissy Gentili, Meira Greenberg, & Gabriella Reyes-Noyola, and welcome all the new prospective editors who will be training to join the Journal this semester.

Upcoming events, dates, and information for new and current associate editors:

If you were unable to come to the organizational meetings but still wish to participate this semester, please attend the meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at noon in C86. (Go to the concourse water fountains and turn right.)

All current editors who wish to remain on staff must attend the upcoming training session on Oct. 14.  All prospective editors must attend as well.  Training will consist of 30 minutes of Westlaw/Lexis training, and 30 minutes of Journal training.

All non-1L prospective editors who wish to expedite their training may request the “test article” immediately by emailing the journal (journal@kentlaw.edu).  It must be completed by Oct. 14.

Any Kent student is welcome to submit a student note for publication.  See the Journal website for specific details and formatting requirements.
