Last chance to join the Journal this semester.
For anyone who is interested in joining the Journal
of Intellectual Property for the Fall semester: you
must attend a training session either this Friday
or next Monday. Information is below, and will be in
the Event Calendar shortly.
Mandatory training starts this Friday!
Training sessions for Fall entry into the Journal
will be held as follows:
Friday, October 14 at 2:30 PM, in room 165.
(Westlaw training)
Monday, October 17 at 5:00 PM, in room 590. (Lexis
training)
The training sessions will each last
about one hour. The first half-hour or so will be
devoted to learning how to use the online search
systems to assist you in conducting Intellectual
Property research. The remainder of the time will
cover the way Journal editors edit submissions.
After the training, prospective editors will be
given a short (6 page) take-home editing assignment,
which will be due in a few weeks. Current Associate
Editors must also attend the training and take this quiz, because we want
everyone to have the same understanding of the editing
process.
New logo still needed.
The Journal still needs a logo -- a mark that we can use
to identify ourselves and build brand recognition in
the IP community. Any student graphic
artists or designers who want to help out should
contact Dave Blau at the Journal email.
I would prefer to have one of us create the logo,
rather than spending money on a contractor.
