Bon Jour!!!

I can officially tell you all that last night's Spaghetti Fundraiser Dinner was a success!!! To all of you who joined us for dinner and wine, thank you so much for your support and I hope you had a good time. Somehow we seemed to have already gotten to the middle of October and I know time is a'tickin' for you 1Ls and that damn memo. Good Luck!! Hope to see you soon at the next KJF event.

October 24 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month - The Society of Women in Law will be hosting a Domestic Violence Speaker Event from 3pm-4pm in Room C20. The panel includes Sharon Harold, South Suburban Family Shelter, Jan Russell, Attorney specializing in domestic violence, and Dana Thomas, Attorney. Attendees are welcome to bring food.

October 24 The Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network 5:30 - 7:30pm The Three Arts Club ......1300 North Dearborn Street TICKETS $25 funds raised will be used to improve the range and quality of services for domestic violence survivors and their children in Cook County. Featured Speakers : Jennifer Welch, Executive Director of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network and Gwyn Roland, Director of the Citywide Domestic Help Line. October 27 Association House of Chicago - Annual Halloween Fright Fest - more information will be emailed this week for those interested in attending.

OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH - you can help make a difference!

DONATE-A-PHONE: KJF will be starting a "Donate-a-Phone" campaign in the coming weeks. No longer used cell phones will be collected and sent to the Wireless Foundations "Call to Protect" program through which victims of Domestic Violence receive donated wireless phones and matching airtime. The phones will be pre-programmed to dial 9-1-1 and one non-emergency number to enable a victim to summon help with the push of a button and assist in the transition from a life of fear to afeeling of protection 24 hours a day.

Public Interest Resource Center (PIRC): Are you looking for an opportunity to get involved in community service? Are you interested in pursuing an internship in various kinds of Public Interest Law but you don't know where to start!! Let PIRC do the work for you. PIRC is in Room 654. You tell us what you are looking for, your interests and your goals and we'll find the opportunity that best fits your needs. KJF is Chicago-Kent's Public Interest Organization...our goal is to raise money for our Summer Fellowship Program so that Law students may pursue an internship in the area of public interest and non-profit organizations.
