TAP Training next Wednesday, Feb. 10!

Ladder Up's Tax Assistance Program (TAP) helps thousands of low-income Chicago families each year receive their maximum federal and state tax refund.  Volunteers learn how to use TAP's tax preparation software and guide clients through the process, learning some marketable skills and making a huge difference in people's lives along the way.  You will also get to chat and work with practicing Chicago attorneys doing pro bono work with TAP - a great networking opportunity!

Get certified in tax preparation by TAP staff next Wednesday, February 10th at noon in room 545.  The training lasts about an hour, after which you will be asked to take a short online test.  Then you will be ready to volunteer with TAP any time throughout the tax season!  Additionally, at least two Kent group volunteer sessions will be planned by KJF throughout the next couple of months.

Please RSVP to Jessica at jcooper@kentlaw.edu, and feel free to e-mail questions.

Hope to see you there!

Congratulations, Mustache Contest winners!

Congratulations to Dan Crone of Section B, the winner of the 2010 Oliver Wendell Holmes Mustache contest! Dan raised $194 dollars for KJF, all of which will go towards summer fellowships for students pursuing unpaid internships in the public interest. Coming in a close second was John Kresl of the Evening Division, who raised $192. Both Dan and John received gift certificates redeemable at either Brooks Brothers or Binny's Wine Depot. Credit is also due to Hendrik Veerhusen of Section C, who came in third place, having raised $155. Finally, let's give it up for Section C, which raised nearly $400 - the most of any section! Section C will receive a yet-to-be-determined prize from Professor Buccafusco.

Thanks again to all of our wonderful contestants and to everyone who voted for them and who attended the Stache Bash. We raised over $1,500 in total! Extra thanks to Professor Buccafusco for dreaming up this crazy contest.
