Ladder Up's Tax Assistance Program (TAP) helps thousands of low-income Chicago families each year receive their maximum federal and state tax refund. Volunteers learn how to use TAP's tax preparation software and guide clients through the process, learning some marketable skills and making a huge difference in people's lives along the way. You will also get to chat and work with practicing Chicago attorneys doing pro bono work with TAP - a great networking opportunity!
Get certified in tax preparation by TAP staff on Friday, February 26, at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. The training will be held in the law offices of Chapman & Cutler, LLP, located in the Harris Bank Building at 111 W. Monroe St. Then you will be ready to volunteer with TAP any time throughout the tax season!
Step #1: You will need to register and sign up at www.goladderup.org in order to attend.
Step #2: If/when you register for training, please email Jessica Cooper at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she will add you to the email list so you can join the Kent group on our group volunteer outings.
Volunteers still needed to help with the Spring Auction!
The 18th Annual Kent Justice Foundation Spring Auction is Thursday, April 8, 2010! The auction is KJF's most important fundraising event. We receive donations from businesses, alumni, and professors. We need their goodwill and support to make this event a success.
The Business Follow-Up Committee needs volunteers. This commitment will involve contacting businesses in the month of March to show them that we appreciate their support. This is a great way to earn lots of volunteers hours towards the Summer Fellowship Program.
To volunteer, email Hendrik Veerhusen at email@example.com. Also, be sure to cc Mariana Karampelas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
