2009-2010 Louis Jackson National Student Writing Competition in Employment and Labor Law

Dear Certificate students:

The Twelfth Annual Louis Jackson Memorial National Student Writing Competition in Employment and Labor Law is co-sponsored by Chicago-Kent's Institute for Law and the Workplace and Jackson Lewis LLP.  The competition is open to all students at ABA accredited law schools who are taking or have taken at least one class in labor or employment law (broadly defined).  First prize is $3,000.  There are two-second prize awards of $1,000 each.  Winning papers are published in the Institute for Law and the Workplace website. (Electronic versions of winning papers will be required.)

Papers are blind judged by a panel of five law professors from law schools across the country.  Neither Chicago-Kent nor Jackson Lewis has any say in determining the winners.

This competition should be of particular interest to those of you who took a seminar last year or are taking a seminar this semester and therefore have substantial papers in the labor or employment law field.  Details are posted outside Prof. Malin's, Prof. Strubbe's and Assistant Dean Francine Soliunas office and are also available from Sharon Wyatt-Jordan and on the website: www.kentlaw.edu/ilw/jackson.html.  Please view the attached flyer for more details.

The deadline for submission is Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

CONTACT: Questions may be directed to Professor Martin H. Malin by email to mmalin@kentlaw.edu

Best regards,
