NLG Open Meeting for New and Current Members

Join the NLG for a meeting and Pizza on October 14th at 5:00 in Room 345.  Help plan some of the upcoming activities and events the NLG has planned.  Get to know other members, meet the Board and exchange ideas.  We still have a lot of programs to plan and a lot of budget money to spend on our projects.  Come with ideas and an open mind.  Everyone is welcome to come.  Tell your friends!  If you have any questions about the organization, please contact Gabe Conroe at gconroe@kentlaw.edu.

Election Protection

Come out and help out on election day!  Volunteers are desperately needed at 150 polling places throughout the city of Chicago.  Election Protection needs 300 law students to take a short training session so they can become poll monitors on November 2nd.  Sign up with a friend and work the polls together to make sure that every vote is counted because every vote matters!  Election Protection is a non-partisan organization.  If you are interested or need more information, please contact Katie Ruder at kruder@kentlaw.edu.

Help out at Cabrini Green YMCA

Volunteers are needed to help out at Cabrini Green YMCA on November 1, 2, & 3.  All they need you to do is watch a movie with the kids during their "movie night" and supervise while other students are being tutored for school.  The kids are great and the program is very important.  If you're interested, please contact Erin McPartlin
Program Director, Cabrini Green Tutoring Program, Inc. at (312) 397-9140 or emcpartlin@cabrinigreentutoring.org or Kristen Prinz at kprinz@kentlaw.edu

RNC@NYC: A Legal Observer's Perspective

On Tuesday, October 26th at 5:00 in room 590, don't miss Matt Dietzen talk about his experiences at the Republican National Convention in New York!  As a Legal Observer, he was trained to act as a witness at demonstrations and ensure that the civil liberties of protesters were not infringed.  Find out what is was like at the front lines of a protest where several hundred people were arrested and what may have gone wrong.  Civil liberties and Constitutional rights have become a focal point of the upcoming election.  Find out what a Legal Observer thought at the RNC protest in New York. For more information check out: 2004 RNC @ NYC Event. If you have any questions, please contact Caroline Cascino at ccascino@kentlaw.edu, or Matthew Dietzen at mdietzen@kentlaw.edu.
