Special Registration forum
**Tuesday, March 4th at
6:00pm, RM C40
in conjunction with the Asian-Pacific
American Law Students Association*
As a result of the USA Patriot Act,
non-immigrants from certain countries are required to register
their presence with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization
Service. The Immigration and Nationalization Service has
therefore has announced new "special" registration
procedures for nationals of certain foreign countries. These new
procedures represent the initial phase of a new system the
government is implementing to track the arrival and departure of
non-immigrants that come to the United States each year.
Representatives from the ACLU, American-Arab Bar Association, Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, and
South Asian attorneys, will participate in a discussion
regarding these INS registration requirements. This
event will provide a forum for questions and concerns regarding
special registration, and any immediate and/or long-term effects
it may have on our communities.
Everyone is welcome! Free refreshments will be provided!!!
