Executive Board Biographies
2007-2008

President
Anna Burr is a third year student.  She graduated from Colorado State University in 2003 with a bachelor's in Speech Communication and a minor in English Literature.  At Kent, Anna is enrolled in the Labor and Employment Law Certificate Program and is also the managing editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property.  Along with Allison and Gillian, Anna has performed in Kent 's last two productions of “The Vagina Monologues.”  The show has been a tremendous success and the Women in Law Society is looking forward to presenting it again this year.  Outside of class, Anna is a law clerk at Ripes, Nelson, Baggot & Kalobratsos, which specializes in Workers' Compensation defense.

Vice-President
Allison Gans is a 3L at Chicago-Kent.  She went to University of Illinois and majored in music education.  She taught music at a junior high school in Flossmoor, where she directed her first show, Guys & Dolls, Jr., and developed a passion for amateur directing, which stayed with her throughout law school.  Working with producer and WIL officer Gillian Nichols-Smith and a host of talented student actresses, she spearheaded and directed "The Vagina Monologues."  Allison participates in the Public Interest Law Certificate Program and hopes to pursue a career in public interest law.

Secretary
Katie Lustig is currently a second year law student.  She graduated the University of Illinois in 2006 with a degree in Political Science. There she was involved in a variety of women’s groups, which sparked her interest in Women in Law.  At Kent Katie is also a Public Interest Student Advisor and a Volunteer Coordinator for Kent Justice Foundation.  Outside law school, Katie works at the firm Brown, Udell and Pomerantz, which specializes in general litigation and real estate law.  She also spends her weekends waitressing at the Cheesecake Factory. Last year she served as a 1L evening representative.

Treasurer
Jacki Dobesh is a second year law student and previous 1L representative of WIL.  Jacki graduated from the University of Illinois in 2005 with a degree in Finance.  She participated in various sexual assault awareness programs in college, such as CARE (Campus Acquaintance Rape Education) and RSH (Rape Stops Here) which is how she became interested in advocating women’s issues. 

Mentorship Opportunities Coordinator
Anne Szkatulski is a second year law student.  Anne graduated from Miami University in 2006 with a degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs, concentrating on European political economy.  During her summers in college she participated in an internship program at a major international law firm focusing on business development and mentorship.  She is currently clerking for the law firm of Burke, Burns and Pinelli, Ltd.

3L Representative
Gillian Nichols-Smith is now a third year law student. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Gender and Women’s Studies and a minor in International Studies.  For the last two years, Gillian has had the pleasure and privilege of producing and performing in The Vagina Monologues at Chicago-Kent College of Law.  This theatrical fundraiser has given her the opportunity to collaborate with many talented women, in particular the show’s director: Allison Gans. (They are both looking forward to the show’s third annual performance.)  In law school, Gillian is pursuing a Certificate in International and Comparative Law.  She has had a diverse range of legal jobs, but presently she is working for the Advice Desk at the Daley Center, the Public Interest Resource Center as a student advisor, and the Criminal Defense Clinic.

2L Representative
Veronica Lopez is a second year student.  She graduated from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor in April 2006 with a double major in Political Science and Ancient Civilizations and Biblical Studies.  She is currently interested in pursuing a career in residential and commercial real estate law (but that is subject to change).  She is most passionate about promoting the well-being and progressive development of Latinos in the US.

Website Coordinator
Ansonia Sood
is a 2L student.  She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology.  Before starting at Kent she worked at Accenture, an IT and Strategy consulting firm.  She is interested in pursing a career in intellectual property law.  She is also a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society and the Treasurer for SALSA.
