College of Law Alumnae/i and Student Newsletter |
October 2002 |
| Letter from the President Erin Shanahan, President Hello! My name is Erin Shanahan, and I am the 2002-2003 President of the Society of Women in Law (WIL). Welcome to this yearÆs first issue of the Alumnae/i Newsletter. This year we will distribute this newsletter primarily through email. If you know a graduate of Chicago-Kent who is not receiving this email, please let us know so we can add her address to the list. As most of you already know, WIL is dedicated to meeting the personal and professional needs of women law students at Chicago-Kent. In addition, WIL seeks to educate all students on the legal status of women in society and explore the possibilities of change through legal work. I am very excited about the 2002-2003 school year. We have a great executive board put together, and weÆre planning a number of informative, helpful, and fun events for our members and alums. We are also planning to work more extensively to put together events with other student groups on campus like the Kent Justice Foundation and Phi Alpha Delta. On October 2, we are starting off the new year with a 1L Welcome Reception to welcome first year students to Chicago-Kent and to introduce them to alumnae and faculty. In October, we are also planning several events to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you have any suggestions, ideas, questions, or comments for the next issue or for WIL in general, please do not hesitate to email me at wil@kentlaw.edu. Thanks!
