General Meetings this Wednesday, September 2nd at 3:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m.
We invite ALL students to join the executive board at our first general membership meetings on Wednesday, September 2nd at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Room #270. We will share all of our great ideas for the coming year, including numerous speaker programs, social events, a mentorship program between students and practitioners, an alumnae/i reception and fundraiser, and much more!

WIL membership forms are available on our newly decorated bulletin board on the concourse, along with our membership survey, mentorship aplications and informational brochures. Don't forget to pick up a bookmark, too: they have the 1L legal writing deadlines and the entire academic calendar for the 1998-'99 year!  If you have any questions about WIL membership, check out our webpage at http://www.kentlaw.edu/student_orgs/wil/ or e-mail us at WIL.

Check Out the New WIL Web Page!
Women in Law has recently revamped its web page (http://www.kentlaw.edu/student_orgs/wil/) to include information on our organizational goals, upcoming program, mentorship programs, WIL library and outline bank, executive board, and links of interest.  But we have not only information about WIL events and programs, but also information about events and organizations throughout the Chicagoland area that might be of interest to our members.

But we need your help!  If you know of an upcoming event or an organization that might be of interest to our members, please e-mail the details to Charis Runnels (crunnels@kentlaw.edu) so she can include it on the web page.  Thanks!

Mark Your Calendars Now for the WIL Autumn Welcome Reception!
On Thursday, October 1st from 4-7 p.m. in the 10th Floor Event Room Women in Law will host its Autumn Welcome Reception.  Mark your calendar now and watch this space for more details!

New Mentorship Program to Match Students with Practitioners
Although WIL has always had a mentorship program to link 1Ls with upper-class WIL members that share the same interests, this year WIL will be starting a new program that will match students with female attorneys practicing in the Chicago area.  Come to our general meeting on September 2nd for all the details, or contact Heather Fritsch, WIL Mentorship Coordinator.

WIL Team Walks for the Step Out to Stop Abuse 10K Walk
Thank you to 1Ls Joy O'Shell, Lidia Olivares Serrano, and MaryCarol McDonough and WIL President Charis Runnels for walking in the Step Out to Stop Abuse 10K walk on Saturday, August 29th on the Chicago-Kent Women in Law team.  Proceeds of the walk, sponsored by The Body Shop, will benefit the Chicago Abused Women Coalition, as well as Friend's of Battered Women & Their Children; Women's Program of Heartland Alliance; Korean American Women in Need; and Sarah's Inn.  Thank you to all who pledged their support.

WIL Named the "Outstanding Student Organization of the Year" in 1998!

end of last year as the recipient of its "Outstanding Student Organization of the Year" award for
1998. Our plaque will hang in the WIL office and our name and picture has been added to the
