Representative Elections This Week
Thank you to all 1L members who applied for our
1L Representative positions! Elections will take place over e-mail
the week of Sept. 21st. Candidate statements will be added to the
WIL webpage this weekend, and an e-mail ballot will be sent on Tuesday
night to all 1L members who have paid their mebership dues. If you
still haven't paid your dues, you will not be eligible to vote. If
you put your dues in the WIL mailbox by Tuesday, however, you will receive
a ballot (so pay your dues so you can vote!) Should you have
any questions, please e-mail us at email@example.com.
Thank you to all students who have applied for our mentorship program
that links 1Ls with upper-class students! We've
gotten a tremendous response and are eager to match you with your mentor/mentee.
Heather Fritsch, Mentoship Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org),
will be sending each participant an e-mail with your match by Friday, September
25th. If you don't receive your match by Saturday, please let Heather
know. We encourage all participants in this program to come to our
Welcome Reception on Oct. 1st so you can meet each other face-to-face!
Welcome/Mentorship Reception on Oct. 1st
On Thursday, October
1st from 4-7 p.m. in the 10th Floor Event
Room, Women in Law will host its Autumn Welcome/Mentorship Reception.
Hors d'ouevres and drinks will be served, catered by Last Minute Gourmet.
WIL members old and young are encouraged to attend this great event.
For participants in our mentorship program, this reception would be a great
time for you to meet your mentee/mentor!
Speaker Panel: Domestic Violence
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness
Month, WIL is bringing together a panel of distinguished speakers on Wednesday,
October 14th at 3:00 p.m. in the Auditorium
to discuss with us the varied legal issues surrounding domestic violence.
This event will be co-sponsored by Family Law, Health Law, Gaylaw, and
Amnesty International. The panel will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed
by a reception in the lobby at 4:00 p.m. during which refreshments will
be served. (Watch this space next week for more details!)
Have you paid your membership dues yet?
Please remember to pay your dues for the 1998-'99
year. A $10.00 check made payable to Women in Law can be left in
the WIL mailbox on the 2nd Floor. Payment of dues allows you to participate
in elections and mentorship porgrams and receive discounts on WIL merchandise.
Dues are used to fund programs and social events throughout the year, as
well as fellowships we give to students over the summer to help pay for
expenses when they volunteer with a public service agency. Thank

we need your help! If you know of an upcoming event or an organization
that might be of interest to our members, please e-mail the details to

so she can include it on the web page. Thanks!
