Women at Chicago-Kent

Out at Work - Tuesday @ 5:00 p.m.
Many law students and attorneys are identifying themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual to their
employers and are finding acceptance in their workplace.  Professional g/l/b legal organizations exist
in many communities, including Chicago which has an active lesbian and gay bar association, in
addition to two sections of the Chicago Bar Association which focus on the interests of lesbian and
gay lawyers and law students.  Nonetheless, coming out to employers may not be an easy decision
for you or someone you know during the job search.  To explore this issue and available remedies
for employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, the Chicago-Kent student organization
Gaylaw has gathered an impressive panel of speakers to share their thoughts and experiences with us
all on Tuesday, November 3rd at 5:00 p.m. in Room #590.  Speakers scheduled to appear include: Paul J. Huff, an associate at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom; Linda Pauel, Assistant Corporation Counsel, City of Chicago; and Miriam Pickus, Deputy Commissioner, Chicago Commission on Human Relations.  This program is being co-sponsored by Gaylaw, the Career Services Office, the Society of Women in Law, and Amnesty International.  Food & beverages will be served.  ALL ARE WELCOME!

WIL Social Scheduled For Friday, November 13th
Come relax with your fellow WIL members at this informal gathering!  (Many say its the most fun they've had all semester!)   Hosted in the home of our very own Kim DeMarino, we'll have food & drinks for everyone.  We'll probably hang out together at Kim's for awhile (eating!) and then move on to a local establishment.  Watch your e-mail for directions.  (If you would like to be added to our e-mail mailing list, please e-mail us at wil@kentlaw.edu - please tell us what year you are in, too.)

"Forget About Finals Fun Packs" Raffle Coming Soon!
We are happy to announce that we will start to sell raffle tickets for our "Forget About Finals Fun Packs" on November 16th.  Tickets will be available from WIL members and from a table in the Spak during lunch and dinner times through December 3rd.  Tickets will be $1 for 1; $5 for 6; or $10 for 15.  All proceeds will go towards our summer fellowship fund. Come to our general meetings and/or watch this space next week for a list of prizes that will be raffled off!

WIL Outlines Now Available!
WIL has compiled and up-to-date list of all outlines currently available to members on disk and in hard copy form.  If you didn't get a chance to sign up at our General Meetings last week, please e-mail Sita Balthazar-Thomas, our Secretary, at sbalthaz@kentlaw.edu with your request.
