Sign up for the 5K AIDS Run/Walk

The 5K AIDS Run/ Walk will be held on September 29, and Women in Law is getting a team together.  For more information, go to our website, or look on our bulletin board (found on the Concourse level near the elevators.)

Fundraiser Sign-up

Arlington Race Track is offering Women in Law the chance to raise some money.  They are looking for volunteers to work as ushers from 7am-6pm on Saturday, October 26.  For each volunteer, we will receive $50 for WIL.

Anyone who participates will also be invited to a special private thank-you party.

We are looking into taking a train out and back, but if we cannot, we also need volunteers to drive everyone from and back to school.  Please email wil@kentlaw.edu right away to sign up as we need to send a list out to Arlington.

1L and Alumni Welcome Reception

1L student, WIL members, alumnae, and faculty are invited to attend a reception on October 2, 2002, from 5:30-7:30 in the 10th Floor Event Room at Chicago-Kent.

Please join us for food, drinks, and conversation.  You will have a chance to meet the new members, faculty, and alumnae.

Please bring a toiletry or cosmetic item or a coloring book and crayons to be donated to a local women's shelter in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

R.S.V.P. by September 27 to wil@kentlaw.edu

(There will be a table set up to collect dues outside of the reception)

DUES

To join Women in Law and receive the benefits of a member (law school outlines, mentorship program, social events) you have to pay your $10 dues for the year.  If you have not yet done so, please place your cash or check (IN AN ENVELOPE WITH YOUR NAME) in the Women in Law mailbox found on the second floor (right side mailboxes).

Bake Sale!

Thank you to everyone who came to sit at the table and brought goodies to sell.  If you are missing any pans or containers, please email wil@kentlaw.edu.  This bake sale was extremely successful.

First Meeting

The first Women in Law general meeting was held on Monday, September 9.  If you missed it, the information covered was an introduction of the board members (their names are found below), the Mentorship Program, volunteer opportunities, and dues.

The mentorship program is a program where law students are matched up with an attorney in the area of law they are interested in practicing in.  In the next few weeks, the mentorship program coordinators will be contacting you to send in certain information to be matched up.  Of course, you have to be a dues paying member first so get your dues in soon.

Information about volunteer opportunities can be found on the Women in Law Bulletin Board on the Concourse level or on our webpage.

Also, if you have any ideas for programs that you would like to see, or if you would like to get more involved by running a program or bringing in a speaker, please let us know.  You can email us at wil@kentlaw.edu.
